Job Attachment
Job attachment can be defined as a person obtaining practical experience in his her line of work in order to compliment the theoretical knowledge that he/she obtained during his/her training.
One of the most important features of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is its orientation towards the world of work. Empowering the trainee with skills, knowledge and attitudes which increase their prospects for future employment, job attachment refers to an on- the-job training in which a trainee learns while working within a normal working environment, using the actual tools and actually doing the job. Effective industrial attachment is an indispensable component of developing trainees’ competences in their areas of specialisation.

The TVET curriculum requires trainees to be attached to an employer for a specified period of time to gain practical experience/exposure. Evidence of job attachment is also a prerequisite for an individual to register for assessment.
In coordinating the objective of greater employer participation in job attachment, the NTA collaborates with employers, industry bodies and registered training providers towards a fit-for-purpose Vocational Education and Training regime for our country and its people. The challenge, however, is that too many employers remain reluctant to join the fray and make available opportunities for job attachment at their places of work.
The NTA invites employers across our country in joining in this important initiative. By freeing up job attachment opportunities, you become a true partner in allowing our country’s VET system to churn out graduates who are skilled, competent and ready to join the labour market.
