A delegation of the National Youth Service (NYS) paid a visit to the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) on Thursday, 12 February 2025, to discuss how the two public entities can intensify their Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) partnership.

NYS Commissioner Dr. Felix Musukubili underlined the value of the ongoing partnership and its instrumental role in developing TVET skills. “The continued collaboration between the NTA and NYS demonstrates a shared commitment to youth development and skills training aligned with Namibia’s economic growth priorities”, he highlighted.

On his part, NTA Chief Executive, Mr. Erick Fundula Nenghwanya stressed the importance of public-public partnerships in leveraging the TVET sector. “Such synergies bridge the gap between training and employment, facilitating better job market entry for young people through practical, industry-aligned skills. They matter because they empower youth and prepare them to be either employed or self-employed, while contributing to Namibia’s development goals”, he shared.

The NYS operates under a unique model as a service provider, offering comprehensive support, including accommodation and meals to trainees. Currently, it has about 400 trainees enrolled across various occupations, including Horticulture & Crop Husbandry, Livestock Husbandry, Farm Machinery, Agriculture and Clothing Production. Other course offerings include Bricklaying and Plastering, Joinery and Cabinetmaking, Metal Fabrication, Office Administration, Plumbing and Pipefitting, and Hospitality and Tourism.
