The Namibia Training Authority (NTA) under its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) division, is pleased to bring your attention to the National Apprenticeship Week taking place from 8 to 11 November 2021 for stakeholders at the NUST Hotel School.
Manager WIL, Daliya Mwiya says the invitation is open to all businesses and organisation who see potential in apprenticeship or would like to find out more information during the week. NTA has been providing funding to employers to take on apprentices in different sectors since the beginning of the pilot phase in 2018.
“The week seeks to celebrate apprenticeship champions and further grow knowledge on this particular programme in underlining the NTA‘s commitment to apprenticeship while acknowledging the real financial trials encountered during the current COVID-19 climate,’ explains Mwiya.
Apprenticeship across the globe is known to successfully transition young persons from education to employment. Such programmes are key components in addressing labour market demands in any economy. In recognition of ensuring that partnership exists between the VET sector and industry, the NTA adopted a Work-Integrated Learning Framework that foresees the re-introduction of the apprenticeship training scheme and the setting of standards to implement industrial attachment and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in TVET.
“In continuing to adhere to the COVID-19 regulations, the event will be hosted both virtually with a limited number of physical attendees, and all those who would like to attend in person should contact Ms. Maretha Simanga at telephone +264 612078151 or via email at msimanga@nta.com.na for confirmations and details,” concludes Mwiya.
