In line with its mandate to review existing and develop new Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) unit standards and qualifications, the Namibia Training Authority, in consultation with the Technical Working Group for Counselling Services, has reviewed the unit standards and qualifications for Counselling Services and Social Auxiliary Work, currently registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

According to Ruusa Iitula-Hango, Senior TVET Standards Development Officer, the NQF Regulations and the guidance on the review of unit standards and qualifications provided by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA), indicate that all unit standards and qualifications registered on the NQF, must be reviewed within five years of each registration, to ensure they remain ‘fit-for-purpose.

“The review has resulted in proposed changes and amendments to the existing unit standards and qualifications for Counselling Services and Social Auxiliary Work. Against this background, the NTA now calls for a formal consideration, inclusive of the engagement of industry and relevant stakeholders, to provide their inputs. Such inputs and contributions will support the Technical Working Group in the enhancement of the unit standards and qualifications”, she explained.

Experts/persons in the field of Counselling Services and Social Work are invited to a consultative meeting, scheduled to take place on 13 September 2021 at the NTA Village Hall, in Khomasdal, Windhoek, from 09h00 to 13h00. Unit standard and qualification drafts can be accessed through the NTA’s corporate website, via the following hyperlink: https://unitstandards.nta.com.na/nationalconsultation/
