The Namibia Training Authority is to embark on a series of curriculum dissemination workshops from 17 January to 10 February 2022.
Occupational area curricula to be covered under this activity are ‘Plumbing’, ‘Clothing Production’, ‘Metal Fabrication’, ‘Office Administration’, ‘Airconditioning’ and ‘Joinery and Cabinetmaking’.
NTA TVET Standards Manager, Amon Haufiku explains that the workshops are necessitated by changes introduced into syllabi which came about as a result of assessment training conducted by the University of Namibia, in February 2020.
“The syllabi now include assessment specifications which are to be implemented by 2022. Additionally, we continue to experience the challenge of some trainers struggling to interpret curriculum documents. Thus, the purpose of these dissemination sessions is to educate the curriculum implementers, which include trainers and assessment coordinators, on how to interpret the curricula documents”, he notes.
“It goes without saying that in ensuring effective and successful implementation and that in order to maintain and ensure quality in TVET, we need to induct all involved in the curriculum implementation process implementers on the recently revised curriculum documents”, Haufiku added.
NTA workshop teams are divided into two groups. One group is to focus on Kunene, Omusati, Oshana, Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Kavango and Zambezi, whereas the second group willl serve Otjozondjupa, Erongo, Hardap, and Omaheke.
