The Namibia Training Authority on Thursday, 5 July 2018 announced a further eight (8) funding agreements as part of its Work Integrated Learning in TVET Pilot Project; bringing the total now to 22 such partnerships with local employers from both the private and public sectors. As per broad industry categories, these eight participating employers are: Gondwana Collection Namibia, Ongava Lodge Etosha and Tommy’s Lodge (Hospitality and Tourism Sector); M&Z Motors and Namibia Breweries (Manufacturing, Automotive and Sales Sector); Erongo RED (Mining & Construction Sector); Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (Telecommunications Sector) and National Youth Service (Agriculture Sector).

CEO, Jerry Beukes said ‘the pilot project remains manageable and feasible, despite it having exceeded its initial target of 10 employers and 50 apprentices, and now stands at 22 employers and 300 apprentices’.

The project is being implemented with local employers, training institutions and other partners, such as the Namibian Employers Federation (NEF). On his part, NEF Seceretary General, Tim Parkhouse said the project was a ‘small but vital step in addressing the unemployment crisis in Namibia, and the devastating effects it has on the youth’.
