The Namibia Training Authority, in partnership with WorldSkills International, the Ministry of Higher Education, Training and Innovation and the African Union, is inviting local and international TVET experts to submit applications to present at the WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022 (WSAS2022) International TVET conference.

Applications are to reach the organisers before the deadline of 31 January 2022 and are to be submitted to Mr. Amon Haufiku, Chairperson: WSAS2022 Accreditation Committee, at email address ahaufiku@nta.com.na

Haufiku says the conference offers an excellent engagement platform for policymakers, industry and experts as local and international TVET experts. “The conference is all about engagement. The overarching purpose of the topical presentations is to generate knowledge, share experiences, benchmark and innovate. This ties in well with the conference’s overarching objectives of capacity building, peer review and enhanced cooperation”, he explained.

Presentation applications will be considered against preset criteria, including thematic relevance, conceptual foundation, documented theory, formatting, research and experience. Applications should not exceed 5 (five) A4 pages in font type: Arial, font size 12, and 1.5-line spacing, and must include the following: (a) the presenter applicant’s qualifications, experience and expertise (CV); (b) summary of discussion points as per the conference theme selected.

Furthermore, presentations must be formatted in terms of the following structure: Presentation Summary; Introduction; Body; Conclusion; and Reference List (any referencing style).

Presenters will not be paid honoraria. However, the organisers will take care of the subsistence and travelling expenses.

The conference is to take place at ‘The Dome’ in Swakopmund, under the theme: ‘Promoting Skills Development in the 21st Century for Sustainable Economic Growth and African Ownership. Its four broad thematic areas are (i) Effective TVET Systems, (ii) TVET Funding Models, (iii) TVET and Technology, and (iv) Gender and Social Inclusion in TVET.
